Stop leaving your best performance behind! Whether you're a runner, biker, pickleball/tennis enthusiast, yoga/Pilates addict, or just a dedicated daily walker, proper nutrition is key to unlocking your full potential. Join us for an enlightening class designed to elevate your athletic performance and support your active lifestyle. This event is possible through the partnership of Cycling Kansas City.
Your guide is our longtime CCKC instructor, Executive Chef Gary Hild. Chef Gary will share some great nutrition and culinary information that will have you at peak performance. At 75 , Chef Gary is a dedicated cyclist (last year, he completed the 475-mile RAGBRAI bike tour across Iowa), foodie, and healthy cooking guru. Chef Gary will demonstrate four easy-prep, delicious, and nutritious meals, and you will sample all of them. Chef Gary will guide you through preparing delicious, nutrient-dense meals tailored to fuel your specific activities. You'll discover how to incorporate lean proteins, complex carbohydrates, and essential fats into your diet in ways that are both tasty and beneficial for your chosen sport.
Chef Gary will review several topics including the The 5 Solid Dietary Foundations of an Active Lifestyle. There is information everywhere and too much of it is overwhelming! Hopefully this will simplify and help everyone understand how to live their healthiest life:
- How much should I eat?
- How much protein should I Eat? Presented by Jen Thompson, Registered Dietitian from Culina Health
- Eat More Plants, Eat the Rainbow. Presented by Carenes Herb Company, Irene King and Cari Asjes
- Drink Water and Plenty of it! Speaker to be announced
- Drink less Alcohol. Speaker to be announced.
We will also have fitness/health experts speaking and giving live demonstrations.

You'll leave with a toolkit of recipes, cooking techniques, and nutrition knowledge to help you perform at your best, recover faster, and enjoy your active pursuits even more. - Please enjoy a 10% discount on all items in our retail store during the full calendar day/night of your class or event. Our retail store will be open for browsing prior to class, during any breaks, and after class.
- We provide a full refund if you need to cancel more than three weeks prior to the start of a scheduled class. You will receive an Account Credit if you need to cancel at any time within three weeks but prior to the class start time. Please note that any refund issued for classes purchased using a Gift Certificate or Account Credit will result in reinstatement of the original Gift Card or Account Credit and will bear the same expiration date. Account Credits issued for cancelations within three weeks of a class will expire one year from the date of issuance. We reserve the right to cancel a class for any reason, at any time, in which case you will receive a full refund.
- This class is for adults 18+. Children 14-17 years old are allowed if accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please let us know if you plan to bring a minor.
